Alex Deep, also known as, Merlinmoon uses his talents in songwriting, guitar, and
keyboard to muse his two loves—the mellow music of ‘70s rock/electronica and his
spiritually—based philosophy—which then is translated to the magical sounds that echo
through his music. The 25-year-old grew up in the slums of Venezuela and discovered
that writing and playing music allowed him to escape from the extreme circumstances he
was born into. He found inspiration through his dreams which he would assume the
moniker Merlinmoon to become his alter ego. He would go into this stream of
consciousness while playing his music and it would take him to a world far away from
everything he knew. Music became his preeminent currency right away.

“In my darkest moments, I contemplated giving up, then surreal visions began to
beckon from my sleep,” Merlinmoon reminisces. “The wizard Merlin became my trust
nocturnal guide appearing cast in the flow of the moon’s lights, waving his wand in the
direction of his passiona piano.”

On the rise in the underground music scene, Merlinmoon continues to study music due
to his inspiration to follow in the footsteps of Pink Floyd and Ennio Morricone. With the
inspiration of Pink Floyd, “Stoned By Dreams” comprises sounds that are reminiscent of
their psychedelic music and are touched by the influence of Bob Marley.

“It’s a lifestyle and state of mind; its whole mission is to defy the unconscious of
people so they can free the chains in their mind. It’s been difficult to find other artists to
be part of it when they just want to play a part and don’t really believe in the message
they do—defending their ideology,” Merlinmoon expressed.

Merlinmoon has opened up for Dave Navarro, The Smithereens and The Wild Child.
The rock artist has been featured in several magazines including In Touch Weekly and
the February 2009 issue of Flaunt Magazine, on the stands now. The rock artist toured the
country for the past year and is back in the studio recording his second album.

Merlinmoon showcases his songwriting talents, taking the songs of Merlinmoon to a
cerebral vibe. Merlinmoon wants the audience to listen to the philosophy in his lyrics as
well as the guitar solos and posh instrumentation that compile the music, all of which is
recorded in analog on vintage gear to capture the magic of ‘70s rock.

Merlinmoon has two concept records in line to produce, which one is dedicated to a
dear friend who unluckily passed away when he was 19, becoming the seed that sprouted
“Stoned By Dreams.”
